Member Information As The Really Cuckoo Company is growing and we are getting a larger number of potential members, we are now informally auditioning for places in the company. These informal auditions consist simply of reciting, by heart, a piece of prepared prose and singing along to a song of your choice. When a place becomes available, you will be informed via letter and sent an audition pack which will include all the audition details. Your first visit will just be a chance to meet everyone and then on your second visit, you will be asked to perform. We understand that this may seem a daunting prospect to new members, but we would like to assure you that the audition will be relaxed, friendly and will provide you with a chance to meet everyone. It is, in effect, an opportunity for you to audition us, as well as the other way around. It will help you to decide whether or not The Really Cuckoo Company and its expectations as a theatre company are right for you. It will give you a flavour of the standards of commitment and patience required from all members. We also understand that some of you may be very nervous, but all this is taken into account: we are simply doing this to ensure that we have dedicated, enthusiastic members who will be committed to a team whose main priority is putting on a good show. Auditions also take place within the company for cast members, which is a good chance to demonstrate your enthusiasm for a role. Obviously, if you do are not cast in a principal role straight away, then you will still be taking part in the chorus. This is an extremely rewarding experience, which will of course give you the chance to develop your confidence and theatrical skills which will help you then in future auditions. Of course, if a member of the chorus is showing enthusiasm and commitment, then this will certainly be noticed and will more than likely result in a bigger role next time! Lots of our cast members who have big roles now have proved their dedication over the years. It is important to remember that no show has enough main roles for everyone, but that the contribution of everyone is important. Whilst not onstage, members of the company can be watching and learning! The audition process has been put in place to ensure that everyone has a fair chance to try for the role of their choice and so that everyone gets the opportunity to perform in a show of a high standard. |
